Prints. I begin with a high resolution electronic scan of the original slide or negative. Next, I adjust the scanned image for color balance and contrast. I make the final print with an Epson 2200 inkjet printer using archival quality pigmented ink on 10 mil premium luster or semigloss photo paper. This combination of paper and ink is rated at 90 years without fading. Selected images are also available on watercolor paper. For years I had prints made the traditional way on Ilfochrome paper. I have found inkjet prints made with the Epson 2200P printer to be superior in color balance, contrast, image detail and longevity.
Mounting and Matting. I mount my prints using framer's tape on acid free 3/16 inch foam core. This gives you the option of changing the backing and matting at a later date with minimal damage to the print. I mat the prints with Crescent 4 ply Photo Rag matboard.
Frames. Metal frames are Nielsen style 58, available in anodic black, gold or white. Wood frames are Larson-Juhl 3/4 inch wide quarter round sections in deep oak or honey oak.
Glass. I use 1/16 inch clear glass.
